Man killed after stepping in front of train

ARLINGTON – A man believed to be in his late 20s was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train Saturday morning when authorities believe he stepped in front of the southbound cars.

The incident occurred around 7:10 a.m. when the unidentified man was struck on the Hudson Line tracks in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

There were 111 passengers on board the train, none of whom were injured. They were bused to the Poughkeepsie train station in Poughkeepsie where they boarded another train to complete their travel to Penn Station in Manhattan.

The incident remains under investigation.
