Pedestrian killed on Long Island

EAST PATCHOGUE - Suffolk County Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car in East Patchogue about 8:00 Saturday night.

An unidentified man was crossing East Main Street at the intersection of Conklin Avenue in East Patchogue when he was struck by a white 2005 Nissan Maxima that was travelling eastbound on East Main Street.

The pedestrian was transported by North Patchogue Fire Department Rescue to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a Wyandanch man, was not injured.

The car was impounded for a safety check. Police ask that anyone with information about the accident to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
