NORTH SALEM – A Purdys man was killed as he walked along Route 22 in North Salem Friday afternoon.

State Police at Somers said William Geller, 47, was walking northbound among the shoulder of the road with his back to traffic when he was struck from behind by a car driven by an 88-year-old man from Somers.

Troopers said the car rounded a curve and struck Geller from behind. Geller was taken to Danbury Hospital where he later died.

Police are trying to piece together the circumstances of the accident and ask any witnesses to call BCI Investigator James Stirpe at 914-277-3651.
