Ridge man dies in taxi crash

PORT JEFFERSON STATION - Suffolk County Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that killed a Ridge man last evening.

Jason Adams, 33, was driving a Lindy’s taxicab on Colgate St. in Port Jefferson Station when his cab collided with a vehicle that was parked in a driveway, causing that vehicle to crash into another vehicle parked inside of a residential garage, at 7:52 p.m.

Officers removed Adams from the taxi and administered rescue efforts. The victim was transported by the Terryville Fire Department to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Detectives believe that Adams, of 347 Randall Road in Ridge, may have experienced a medical event that resulted in the crash.

There were no other persons involved. The taxi was impounded for a safety inspection, and the investigation is continuing.
