Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in death of girlfriend

GOSHEN – A Newburgh admitted in in Orange County Court on Friday that he killed a woman with whom he had a relationship.

Yannick Evine-Ze, 33, of 68 West Street, pled guilty to the crime of manslaughter in the first degree admitting that, on July 21, 2012, he killed Alexis Harris.

Harris died as a result of multiple blunt force trauma indicating that she had been beaten to death.

Evine-Ze was arrested by Newburgh Police on the day of the crime and has been held in the Orange County Jail without bail since that time. When sentenced, he will receive a term of 22 years in prison.

Judge Jeffrey Berry had previously ruled that a statement made to police could not be admitted at trial.
