Inmate dies in county jail

KINGSTON – The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate in the county jail that occurred early Tuesday. Authorities said while the death is under investigation there does not appear to be foul play involved.

Mark Morgan, 43, of Highland, was brought to the jail around 3:30 p.m. He had been arrested by Town of Lloyd Police for outstanding bench warrants on felony and misdemeanor drug charges.  He was arraigned and sent to the jail in lieu of bail and was placed in the medical housing unit after being screened and remained there until his death early Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing pending autopsy and toxicology reports.

The New York State Commission of Corrections was notified as per state corrections standards
