Highway rock thrower indicted for murder

WHITE PLAINS – The man, who in 2004, threw a large piece of asphalt off an overpass on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers, killing the woman who was driving a car on the road, has been arraigned on a charge of second degree murder.

Alberto Plasencia, 26, of Yonkers, was indicted in the death of Marie McSweeney, whose 87-yaer-old mother was with her in the car. She was injured.

Yonkers Police, which had been investigating the case since then, caught a break when they received new information and recently arrested Plasencia.  He is being held in the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $400,000 bail.   If convicted, he faces up to 25 years to life in state prison.
