Man charged with terroristic threats over parking ticket

HUNTINGTON - Suffolk County Police arrested a Huntington man for making threats over payment of a parking ticket.

Robert Murphy was at Huntington Town Hall, at 100 Main St. in Huntington, on January 30, 2013, regarding a prior parking summons and he left the building in an irate manner. Murphy yelled at a female Town of Huntington employee and made threats.

Following an investigation, a .45 caliber rifle was removed from his home on Hazard Avenue in Huntington Station. Murphy, 55, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for evaluation and released.

Upon release, Second Squad detectives charged Murphy with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony. He will be held overnight for scheduled arraignment on Sunday.
