Garbage truck driver killed in Livingston County |
|||||
LEICESTER - State Police in Geneseo responded to a report of a fatal accident involving two garbage trucks, shortly before 2 Friday afternoon, on St-39/20A in the Town of Leicester, Livingston County. When Troopers arrived they learned that a garbage truck was eastbound on St-39-20A and pulled to the south shoulder to unload a overloaded garbage toter from a driveway, when a second garbage truck heading west stopped to assist. That garbage truck was operated by Timothy Gorton, 25, from Caledonia, also parked on the south side of the roadway behind the eastbound garbage truck facing opposite directions. After Gorton backed his garbage truck up, he exited his truck and began to assist with the garbage toter. Initial investigation reveals that Gorton left his truck in reverse and was pinned between the two trucks. Gorton died at the scene. Both Garbage trucks were owned by L,T, Disposal Inc. out of Caledonia, NY. The Livingston County D. A. Greg McCaffrey was also on scene. The investigation is continuing at this time. |
