Woman survives collision with train

VERONA - A Middleville women drove into the side of an Amtrak Train on Blackmans Corners Rd in the Town of Verona.

At 3:12 pm, on Sunday, Shelby Schumacher, 29, of  Middleville, was driving north on Blackmans Corners Rd and failed to stop for a west bound Amtrak passenger train. Schumacher's vehicle struck the second Amtrak engine and then came to rest on the railroad right of way. 

Schumacher was transported to St Luke's Hospital by Vineall Ambulance for an evaluation, no injuries were reported by Schumacher.

The Amtrak passenger train had 182 passengers and 4 Amtrak employees on board. No injuries were reported on the train.

The accident is still under investigation anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Langheinrich at 315-765-2765.
