Man shot to death in his home, apparently by armed intruders

FLANDERS - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the shooting death of a Flanders man early Sunday morning.

Southampton Town Police were called to a residence at 200 Priscilla Ave. after a 911 caller reported that armed men had broken into the home and shot a man. When police arrived, they discovered Demitri Hampton, 21, with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Hampton, who lives at the home, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this case to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
