Ausable Forks fire chief arrested

AUSABLE FORKS - State Police stationed at Ray Brook and Wilmington commenced an investigation into the larceny of funds and forgery of checks at the Ausable Forks Volunteer Fire Department.  This activity was brought to the attention of the state police by members of the fire department.
On Wwednesday, as a result of the investigation, Jason F. Whisher, 32, of Ausable Forks, was arrested on felony charges of  forgery 2nd degree and grand Larceny 3rd degree for stealing in excess of $3,000 from the fire department’s accounts.  Whisher had held the position of Ausable Forks fire chief and treasurer. 
He was arraigned in the Town of Wilmington Court and was released on his own recognizance to reappear in the Town of Jay court on January 28,
