KINGSTON – Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk, a small town farmer from Duanesburg in western Schenectady County, has prevailed in the 46th District state senate race.  The final 90 votes were counted Friday morning at Ulster County Board of Elections, following a post-election legal battle lasting 10 weeks.

Amedore held a 37-vote lead over Tkaczyk until Friday, when 90 absentee ballots previously excluded were opened under court order. Of those, 69 were for Tkaczyk, and only 15 went to Amedore. The rest were blank. 

As a result, Tkaczyk was the winner by roughly 19 votes, out of approximately 126,000 ballots cast.
