Two dead in Westchester County crash

LEWISBORO – Two women were killed when the car in which they were riding ran off I-684 in the Town of Lewisboro and struck a tree head on.

State Police said the driver, Ellen Rann, 70, of Queens, ran off the highway at 12:35 p.m. on Saturday, and struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Westchester EMS.

The passenger, a 57-year-old woman from Manhattan, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital where she was later pronounced dead by the medical staff, police said.

Police are investigating why Rann veered across the road, onto the grassy area of the highway striking the tree.
