Westchester man arrested in two murders

YONKERS – A parolee from Mount Vernon will face two murder charges in connection with the deaths of two women.

New York City Police, working on an October 1993 murder there, worked with Yonkers Police looking for a possible suspect in the death of Learonda Sheely, 23, of Yonkers, who was found stabbed to death if a stairwell.

On Tuesday, December 4 of this year, NYPD and State Parole officers sought Lucius Crawford of Mount Vernon as a suspect. A parole officer searching for the suspect located a dead woman in his residence at 7 Beekman Avenue in Mount Vernon. Crawford was later arrested by Mount Vernon Police.

Crawford, 60, has an extensive criminal history. He was arrested in Yonkers in 1994 for the attempted murder of a woman. He was convicted and sentenced to10 to 20 years in state prison and was released on parole in February 2008.
