Father, son arrested after kidnaping 24-year-old man

CORAM - Suffolk County Police have arrested a father and son who kidnapped a Coram man at gunpoint Monday afternoon.

A 24-year-old man was getting into his car that was parked on Wilson Avenue in Middle Island, at approximately 4 p.m. when he was approached by two men who forced the victim at gunpoint to drive them around.  After approximately an hour and forty five minutes, the men made the victim pull into the Plaza 16 shopping center parking lot, located at 16 Middle Country Road in Coram.  When the men got out of the vehicle and went into the Dominican Star Bodega, which is located in the shopping center, the victim escaped and called 911.  Within a few minutes from the time of the call, Sixth Precinct Police Officers Ramses Cerdas and Steven Dagostino apprehended Sheldon Davis, who was outside of the bodega, and Latif Davis who was still in the bodega.

Sixth Squad detectives charged Sheldon Davis, 40, and Latif Davis, 22, both of 12 Flores Lane, Coram, with Kidnaping 2nd Degree and Menacing 2nd Degree.  Latif was also charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree.

Both men will be held at the Sixth Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on November 26.
