ALBANY – SUNY is partnering with the American Red Cross as New York State recovers from the effects of Superstorm Sandy.

American Red Cross and SUNY web pages have been set up for those affiliated with SUNY to make a charitable donation. Additionally, SUNY will host a blood drive at SUNY Plaza in Albany on Nov. 19 and central administration is working with campuses statewide to organize local volunteers.

“With a campus in every community, SUNY is a natural beacon for New Yorkers during times of crisis,” said Chancellor Nancy Zimpher. “We are proud to partner with the American Red Cross and do our share to aid disaster victims all along the Atlantic Coast by providing a venue for students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to give charitably, donate blood, or volunteer as we continue to recover from this most recent storm.”

“The American Red Cross continues its efforts to provide aid and comfort to the thousands of people affected by Superstorm Sandy,” said Gary Striar, CEO of the American Red Cross Northeastern New York Region. “We are extremely grateful to the SUNY community for its commitment and compassion; this support will further enable the Red Cross to do everything possible to get help to where it is needed.”
