Police to activate Pumpkin Patrol

ALBANY - State Police Troop T members will be stationed on highway bridges and overpasses in addition to their normal patrols this Halloween to discourage holiday pranksters.

This initiative, in its 36th year, is aimed at preventing Halloween pranks and protecting motorists along the 570 miles of the New York State Thruway.

The patrols will take place on both October 30 and 31.

In addition to Troop T members, citizen volunteers will be assisting the State Police.

According to the Thruway Authority, more than 300 people from 19 counties have volunteered to participate in this year’s efforts.

Troop T will also keep watch for other violations including speeding, driving while intoxicated, and aggressive driving.
