Man charged with murder following deadly fight

FREEPORT - Homicide Squad detectives report an arrest for a murder that occurred in Freeport on Saturday, at 5:30 P.M.

According to detectives, Freeport Police Officers received a call for a large amount of blood at 103 Bennington Ave. Upon arrival the officers observed a large amount of blood in the parking lot, along with a blood trail and drag marks to the wooded area.  Upon conducting a search through the woods, with the assistance of the First Squad, Ermis Alonzo, of Freeport was found dead with multiple stab wounds to the neck and head.  Officers then observed Henry Martinez-Ramos, 24, (homeless) in a nearby wooded area.  Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Martinez-Ramos, who had stabbed the deceased during an altercation.  The knife was recovered.

Martinez-Ramos is being charged with murder 2nd degree and will be arraigned today in First District Court, Hempstead.
