Intelligence Summit held in Albany

ALBANY – The third annual New York State Intelligence Summit was held at the Desmond Hotel in Albany, on October 17th and 18th. The Summit was held in conjunction with the New York State Intelligence Center, in partnership with the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.

The Summit welcomed the US Department of Homeland Security Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism, John Cohen, and Chief Joseph Pfeifer of the Fire Department of the City of New York. Speakers from the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as well as Police Officers from the New York City and Oakland, California, Police Departments, were among other distinguished presenters.

More than 200 executives from Canadian and US federal, state, Tribal, and local law enforcement and homeland security agencies attended the conference. The event provided an opportunity for the attendees to learn about new strategies, technologies, and available resources to better perform their public safety missions. Attendees received training about current terrorism threats and major crime trends, counter-terrorism programs, countering violent extremism, crime analysis and information sharing platforms and initiatives, social media, and current narcotics trafficking trends. Hosting the summit were New York State Police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico, US Attorney Richard S. Hartunian, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Commissioner Jerome Hauer and FBI-Albany Division, Supervisory Agent in Charge Clifford Holly.
