KINGSTON – The Nassau County man who allegedly started a brush fire near the old Tamarack Lodge property in Ulster County last April, resulting in the flames spreading and destroying over 30 buildings and over 50 acres of woodlands, has been indicted by an Ulster County grand jury.

Lance Muckenhaupt, 56, of New Hyde Park, was charged with the crimes after an investigation by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, DEC Police and the Ulster Arson Task Force.

At the time of the fire, the Ulster County Sheriff’s office said he was unable to keep the fire contained and it spread across the Tamarack property.  There were no injuries
