Two charged with attempted murder on Long Island

ROOSEVELT – Police report two arrests for an attempted murder that occurred in Roosevelt on Saturday, October 6, at 8:00 pm.

According to detectives, the twenty eight year old male victim was sitting  in a vehicle parked on Anna Avenue with his 24 year old girlfriend when the defendant Leonard Budden,  26, of 2 Williams Street Roosevelt began to stare and then have words with the victim. The victim exited the vehicle and began fighting with the defendant. The defendant pulled out a revolver and shot the victim twice into his left and right thigh area. The defendant then fled the area. The victim was able to call the police and was he transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a nearby hospital and was treated for his injuries.

Subsequent to an investigation detectives identified the defendant and observed him in front of 2 Williams Street. Detectives chased Budden into the residence with the assistance of several First Precinct police officers.  Budden was placed under arrest as he exited the residence through the front door.

With the consent of the homeowner the residence was searched when four men who were hiding inside were removed. One of the male subjects was known to the detectives as Anthony Tremble, 20, of 5 Harold Avenue Hempstead and was placed under arrest for the shooting of a 17 year old male victim in Roosevelt on Thursday September 13, 2012 at 12:50 am. Detectives recovered a loaded .22 caliber revolver from the basement.

Budden is charged with attempted murder, assault 2nd degree, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a loaded firearm, and reckless endangerment. Anthony Tremble is charged with assault 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree and reckless endangerment 1st degree.

Both men were scheduled for arraignment on Sunday.
