Man shot to death on Peekskill street

PEEKSKILL – City Police are calling the death of a 53-year-old Peekskill man on Wednesday afternoon a homicide.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was believed to have been shot to death on the 100 block of Pine Street.

Lt. Eric Johansen said the incident was not a random crime and was not believed to be gang related. He called the shooting a “tragic death of a well-respected member of the community.”

City police are working with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and County Department of Public Safety K-9 officers.

Investigators said the assailant or assailants have fled the area.

Meanwhile, a reward of up to $2,500 has been offered by the New York State Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the man’s death.
