Woman gets into wrong vehicle; driver refuses to let her go

NEW ROCHELLE – State Police are trying to locate a white BMW SUV driven by a dark complexioned black man in his 30s in connection with a possible abduction.

Detectives said on Saturday a woman was waiting to be picked up by a representative of a friend in Manhattan, was approached by an unknown man who she mistakenly believed was there to pick her up.

She got into the vehicle and shortly discovered she had gotten into the wrong car. The man refused to let her out and he drove to New Rochelle on the New England Thruway.

The suspect took the victim’s cell phone and wallet so she couldn’t make a call for assistance.

When they reached exit 16, the woman jumped from the moving vehicle, sustaining bruises, but was not seriously injured.

The suspect left the scene.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the vehicle around 3 a.m. on September 29 to call them at 800-635-8856 or 914-769-2600. All information will be kept confidential.
