Assistant football coach charged with rape

ORISKANY – A 24-year-old man, who volunteers as an assistant coach with the Mount Markham varsity football team, has been arrested on a rape charge by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation by the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

Authorities said Fritz Barrett was arrested Wednesday by State Police for felony second-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child as a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Oneida County Jail.
