MEADOWMERE – Police are investigating fatal motorcycle accident that occurred at 8:00 Friday evening.

While on a motorcycle traveling south on Rockaway Turnpike, the 35 year old male victim struck the rear portion of a minivan that was being driven by a 72 year old male. He was traveling north on Rockaway Turnpike and made a left turn, in the vicinity of Rugby Road, cutting across the victim’s path of travel. After striking the vehicle, the victim was ejected from his motorcycle and suffered severe head trauma. He was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced dead.

A brake check was conducted at the scene on the 2003 Chrysler minivan and released to the owner. The victim’s motorcycle was impounded for safety checks.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
