NEWFIELD - State Police at Ithaca are investigating a two car double fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on State Route 13 in the Town of Newfield, N.Y.

The initial investigation revealed that a car drive by Pamela Klemme, 56, of Syracuse, was southbound on State Route 13 when she drove into the northbound lane and struck an oncoming car driven by Seymour Smidt, 83, of Ithaca, with passenger, Ruth Schwartz, 87, of Ithaca.

Pamela Klemme was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where she died.

Ruth Schwartz was airlifted to a hospital where he also died.

Seymour Smidt is being treated treated for internal injuries and is in critical condition.
