Two pedestrians killed on Long Island in separate accidents

EAST FARMINGDALE –  A man who was driving a rented car west in the far right lane on Route 109 struck a pedestrian who was crossing Route 109, from north to south at approximately 7:23 p.m.

Howard Reich, 55, of Lindenhurst, was pronounced dead at the scene.   The driver of the car, Kenneth Simon, 54, of Massapequa Park, was uninjured.

Simon was issued a summons for Driving with a Suspended License.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152

In an unrelated incident in Jericho, a vehicle backing out of a Manors Drive driveway struck an elderly woman, knocking her to the ground, causing a serious head injury.  Miu Lam Hung, 82, from Jericho was transported to North Shore Syosset Hospital where she was pronounced dead. 
The vehicle was driven by a Jericho woman in her 30’s.

A brake check was conducted at the scene.  There is no criminality at this time.
