Man found dead in backyard pool

COPIAGUE - Suffolk Police are investigating the death of a Copiague man who was found submerged in his backyard swimming pool early Tuesday morning.

First Precinct police officers were called to 46 West Minerva Road in Copiague at 2:25 a.m. after resident Vincent Mennella was observed by a house guest submerged in an above-ground swimming pool. Police officers removed the victim, who was fully clothed, from the pool. Mennella, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
