FREEPORT – Police report the arrest of a Freeport man for a homicide that occurred on Monday, September 03, at 6:02 am in Freeport.

Freeport Police and the Fire Department were dispatched to 117 Craig Avenue, Freeport for the report of a house fire. After gaining entry into the home and extinguishing the fire, the body of a deceased female was located near the front of area of the home.

While on N. Long Beach Road in Freeport, an Moreno, who was responding to the reported house fire, was flagged down by Loventino Cassadean, 49, of 117 Craig Avenue, Freeport. After interviewing Cassadean, the officer placed the defendant under arrest without incident. 

The positive identification of the victim as well as the cause of death is pending on the findings of the Medical Examiner.

The defendant is charged with Murder 2nd Degree and will be arraigned today in Hempstead. -
