Woman Killed, Five Injured in Two-Car Crash

NORTH AMITYVILLE - Suffolk County Police are investigating a two-car crash that injured five people and killed a Wyandanch woman this morning.

Briyonna York, 18, was driving an SUV south on Route 110 in North Amityville at approximately 11:50 a.m.  York, of 60 South 31st St., Wyandanch, was attempting to make a left turn onto Harrison Avenue when her vehicle was struck by a pickup that was traveling north on Route 110.

York’s aunt, Cathy Rich, 55, who was sitting in backseat behind the Johnson, was also transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was pronounced dead. 

York’s mother, Stacy Johnson, 37, who was seated in the front-passenger seat, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  A fourth passenger, Dana Gilley, 35, was transported to Stony Brook Hospital via Suffolk County Police helicopter where he was in stable condition.  York, Johnson, Rich and Gilley resided together in the same Wyandanch home.

The driver of the pickup, Jose Sanchez-Jurado, 23, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  The passenger in the Tacoma, Livis Silva, 26, of 44 Spruce Road, Amityville, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.  Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
