Attempted homicide in Oneida County

LEE - State Police in Lee are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting that occurred at 11641 Webster Hill Road in the Town of Ava, Oneida County.

 The investigation revealed that at approximately 6:00 am, Jesse Wilcox, 31, his wife Christy, 26, and his step-father Lester Platt,  50, responded to Albert Nellenbach's residence at 11641 Webster Hill Road in the Town of Ava to look for Jesse's brother Jared Platt who is an acquaintance of Nellenback. They looked around the outside of the house then left without going to the door. They later returned to the house and observed Mr. Nellenback in a sleeping bag in the tree line on the property. As they walked towards him Albert suddenly jumped up and started shooting a .22 caliber rifle at them striking Jesse in the earlobe, elbow and back. Jesse is in stable condition at a hospital in Syracuse.

Albert Nellenbach, 35, was arrested for attempted murder, felony and assault 1st, both felonies. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 cash / $100,000 bond.  He is expected back in court on Thursday, August 30th.

The investigation is continuing.
