Motorcyclist killed in Long Island crash |

BELLPORT - Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed an unidentified motorcyclist in Bellport Wednesday evening. The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, northbound on Station Road, when the driver apparently lost control at 9:22 p.m. The motorcycle struck a bus, operated by Ronald Grant, 66, of Port Orange, Florida, who was traveling southbound and making a left turn into a driveway at 991 Station Road. The motorcycle then collided with an SUV, operated by an East Northport man, who was traveling south on Station Road. The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The bus was inspected at the scene by Suffolk County Police Department Motor Carrier Safe-T Section, and the driver of the bus was issued several summonses. The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552. |
