Westchester Korean War vets recognized

GOLDENS BRIDGE – A section of the Taconic State Parkway has been designated as the Westchester County Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway.

Assemblyman Robert Castelli (R-Goldens Bridge) and Gregory Ball (R-Patterson) sponsored legislation that was signed into law by the governor naming the roadway.

“This permanent tribute to the more than 1.7 million who served, and more than 54,000 who lost their lives in this bitter conflict, is a fitting tribute to America’s commitment to freedom around the world,” said Castelli.

“This dedication shows our support to the men and women who have put their lives on the line to protect our freedom,” said Ball. “America is not a great country because of its politicians; it’s a great country because of its veterans.”

The idea for the highway naming came from the Westchester County Post of the Korean War Veterans of America.
