Oneida County accident kills elderly pedestrian

LEE - State Police in Lee are investigating a fatal car/pedestrian crash that occurred Sunday morning shortly before 10am at 7855 S. Penny Road in the City of Rome.

The investigation revealed that, Olga Lastowicka, 88, was attempting to cross Penny street in front of her residence to retrieve her mail when she was struck by a pickup truck, driven by an 80-year-old man. 

Lastowicka was transported by AM-Care Ambulance to Rome Hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

As of Sunday evening, no charges had been filed.
