Surfer drowns in ocean
LONG BEACH - The Fourth Squad is investigating a drowning that occurred at Lido Beach on Friday afternoon.
Witnesses observed Michael Connolly, 28, of 103 Taft Avenue, Long Beach, in the water surfing and apparently in physical distress. Connolly was taken from the water with the assistance of the Lido and Long Beach Life Guards and transported to a local area hospital by the Long Beach Fire Department where he was pronounced dead.
