Former DARE officer sentenced to prison for sexual abuse

ALBANY – A former police officer who worked in public schools was sentenced to six years in State Prison for having a sexual relationship with a minor.    Paul Pierce, 59, of East Greenbush,  must also serve ten years of post release supervision, and will be required to register as a sex offender.

On May 2, 2012 Pierce pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal sexual act in the third degree, a felony.  He was charged with engaging in repeated acts of sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 17 at a residence in Albany between June and September 2010.

Pierce is a former police officer and did work as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Officer as part of his former duties.
