Plans unveiled to revive Catskill resort, with casino

WARWARSING – The new owners of the Nevele Hotel unveiled their plans for the facility near Ellenville in Ulster County, Thursday night.  The Nevele was the last of the venerable Catskill resorts to shut down, a few years ago.

Plans include a casino.

Inclusion of a casino could take a few years.  An amendment to the state Constitution is required.  That must pass in two separately elected session of the state legislature then go to voters.

Two existing structures will remain standing and a number of new ones will be constructed, including three new hotel buildings, a 150,000 square foot casino, 40,000 square foot grand ballroom/convention area/banquet venue, a seven level parking structure, and other buildings for restaurants, a spa and fitness facility.

The golf course, once considered one of the finest in the region, will be revived.   The resort will also include skiing facilities, bowling, pools, a lazy river, historic rail trail, climbing, riding and water features.
