Police seek car, driver in fatal hit-and-run

MASSAPEQUA - Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Auto Accident that occurred Monday evening.  , July 16, 2012 at 8:50 pm in Massapequa.

According to detectives, while crossing Merrick Road at Carmen Mill Road, a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that was traveling east on Merrick Road at about 8:50 p.m. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The vehicle, which is described as being a dark colored sports car, possibly a Nissan 300, fled the scene eastbound on Merrick Road into Suffolk County.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this accident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
