Two dead in Allegany County accidents

ALLEGANY CO – Unrelated accidents killed two over the weekend in Allegany County.

At approximately 9:23 PM on Saturday, State Police in Amity responded to a one-vehicle ATV accident in the town of Friendship, Allegany County. The accident occurred on an ATV trail west of Byrnes Hill Rd in Friendship when the ATV overturned. The operator, Dale Cotton, 50, was pinned under the ATV and suffered head trauma. Cotton was not wearing a helmet.

On Sunday, at approximately 9:13 AM, State Police responded to a one-vehicle motorcycle accident on State Route 19 in the town of Hume, Allegany County. The operator, David Matison, 56, of Andover NY, lost control for reasons that are unknown at this time. Matison suffered head trauma and was transported by Fillmore EMS to Wyoming County Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead. There were no passengers.

The investigation into both accidents is ongoing.
