Albany teen caught with handgun

ALBANY- An Albany teenager faces up to three years in prison after admitting having an illegal handgun.  Pedro Davila, 17, of Third Street in Albany pled guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a felony.

On May 26, 2012 at around 3:00 in the morning, Davila was spotted by Albany Police walking suspiciously, as if concealing a weapon by his side. When officers tried to talk with him, he turned, dropped a handgun, picked it up, and began to run. Davila discarded the gun during the pursuit. Police recovered the handgun with one live round in the chamber, as well as a magazine containing seven additional live rounds. He was soon apprehended by Albany Police and the gun was later positively test fired.

Davila faces three years in prison with three years of post-release supervision when sentenced on August 9
