HAUPPAUGE – Nassau County police are reporting more details of the fatal boating accident that occurred on Wednesday July 4, at 10:10 P.M. in Bayville.  A 34 foot vessel traveling in the Long Island Sound carrying 27 passengers capsized and sank. Several area rescue units responded to assist with the rescue operation.

There were three fatalities as a result of the accident: David Aurelino 12, Harley Treanor 11, and Victoria Gaines 8, all Suffolk County residents.

All remaining passengers were transported to area hospitals and released. No additional injuries are reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
