Dead two-year-old was murdered, police say

NEW PALTZ – An autopsy performed on the body of a two-year-old girl who was found at a house on Route 32 North in the Town of New Paltz was the victim of a homicide, police said Thursday.  An autopsy determined the child was killed by blunt force trauma.

Police have not released the victim’s name pending notification of all relatives.

Authorities are continuing their investigation including extensive forensic work being conducted by the State Police Forensic Identification Unit. Several leads are being followed with a number of interviews continuing.

New Paltz Police are being assisted by State Police investigatory units, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
