Teen indicted for violent assault that paralyzed another teen

ALBANY – A grand jury in Albany County indicted Juan Anderson, 18, for the violent assault of a 15 year old.  Anderson was arraigned on one count of assault in the first degree, and two counts of robbery in the first degree, both felonies

The indictment alleges that in the evening of May 25, 2012, on Third Avenue in the City of Albany, Anderson intentionally caused serious physical injury to a 15 year old boy by stabbing him with a sharp object during the commission of a robbery.

An investigation led by the Albany Police Department uncovered that Anderson attempted to steal a bicycle from the victim and caused injury to the victim when he refused to comply.  The injuries have left the victim paralyzed from the neck down.

Anderson is currently in custody.
