Man indicted for stabbing NYPD cop in the head

NEW YORK – The New York City man who is charged with stabbing a New York City Police officer in the head with a knife has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on felony attempted murder and other charges.

Terrance Hale, 26, has also been indicted on charges of assault, aggravated assault on a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

He stabbed Police Officer Eder Loor on April 17 when Loor and another officer responded to a 911 call made by Hale’s mother from her East Harlem apartment where she lived with her son. She told the 911 operator that her son required medical assistance. Hale left the apartment before officers arrived, but they followed him down the street and that’s when Hale stabbed Loor in the head with a 3½ inch blade, fracturing Loor’s skull and hitting his brain.

Miraculously, Loor survived the attack, was treated at a New York hospital before being released to go home to Orange County days later.
