Metro-North train station assault gets man nine years in prison

WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon man who attacked another man whole at the White Plains Metro-North train station because he thought the victim had his cell phone, was sentenced in Westchester County Court on Thursday to nine years in state prison.  He was convicted in March of the felonies of assault in the first and second degrees.

Robert France, 51, had words with the victim at 2:50 a.m. on April 12, 2011 when France thought the other man had his phone. He struck the man repeatedly, hitting him with a large garbage can.

The victim suffered a broken leg that required seven screws inserted to repair it. He also required several stitches to his left hand and had several facial fractures.

France was arrested by MTA Police.
