Troopers suspended for alleged promotion of prostitution

ALBANY - Trooper Jeremy Smith, 34, and Trooper Michael Petritz, 33, were suspended without pay on April 26, in connection with a State Police administrative investigation.

Trooper Titus Taggart was suspended without pay earlier today for allegedly organizing parties that may have involved the promotion of prostitution, while off-duty.

Troopers Smith and Petritz were suspended for allegedly engaging in misconduct, however, were not involved in organizing the parties.

Troopers Smith, a ten-year trooper, and Petritz, an eight-year trooper, are each assigned to Troop T – Henrietta.

State police separately announced that Trooper Titus Taggart was suspended without pay effective April 26, 2012 as a result of an internal investigation that was initiated in December of 2011.

Trooper Taggart is alleged to have organized parties that may have involved the promotion of prostitution, while off-duty. There has not been an arrest in this investigation, which is ongoing.

Trooper Taggart, an 18 year veteran, is assigned to Troop T Buffalo.
