ALBANY - During this week State Police, Troop T – Thruway -  will be conducting several special enforcement details focusing on violations of the move over law.  Motorists must 'move over' for not only the police but also for  tow operators,  maintenance workers and others who have a need to be on the sides of the Thruway, as per the amendment to the state Vehicle & Traffic Law which took effect Jan. 1, 2012.

Drivers who violate the Move Over law could be fined up to $275, plus a court surcharge of $85, and sentenced to up to 15 days in jail. The driver also could be assessed three points on their driving record.
