WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS – An woman who was on her way to Sunday morning church services died Sunday morning after her car crashed into a utility pole on Route 52 in the Sullivan County hamlet of White Sulphur Springs.

Verna Hess, 80, of Callicoon, crashed her vehicle into the pole at about 9:20 a.m..

The White Sulphur Springs Fire Department extricated the woman, who was alone in the vehicle. She was taken to Catskill Regional Medical Center by Mobile Medic Ambulance where she died from her injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.
