Guilty verdict in drug case could mean life in prison

SYRACUSE - Raymond Gonzalez, 41, of Syracuse, pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Syracuse to aiding and abetting a co-defendant to possess with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base (crack).

As part of his plea, Gonzalez admitted that he helped a co-defendant to store and package controlled substances including cocaine, cocaine base (crack) and heroin at a residence in the Skyline Apartments on James Street in the City of Syracuse on October 2, 2008.

Gonzalez faces up to life imprisonment, a $4 million dollar fine and at least five years of supervised release following any period of incarceration when he is sentenced on August 25, 2010.

The case against the co-defendant remains pending.
